Darkfall will feature a new dynamic environmental sound system that is groundbreaking for an MMO. While we have already showcased specific sound emitters in an older video, this new video showcases some of the new mechanics behind sound that’s linked to specific environments and locations.

somehow they were more impressive in the screenshots than in live video
There are areas in the video such as the ork capital which haven’t been processed with the new light sources. On the other hand the human capital and the dungeon showcase the new light system.

Should definitely add to the richness, depth and life that DF needs. I wonder if you will be able to toggle the music still?
if its not toggle than i hope it will be 5-10% volume compared to other sounds
its stupid that in almost all games music is set to 100% and is always too laud
read at the first 10 seconds of the video… sounds are exaggerated for demonstration purpose
Looking good, just don’t take to long in adding them.
And don’t start on echo or filtering according to volume and materials before you add this
I would rock to hear about gameplay and game mechanic changes at some point as well
The game is allready insanely beatifull, and the sounds are fine and the sand dunes look fine – but lets hear about the new Ui, or character specialisations and any changes that will affect the daily gameplay.
Very impressed, nice to see an update on this stuff! Very glad to see that immersion is an aspect that is being put in high priority.

Awesome sounds there, gj, do have a question though, what happened to the new character models as I see the new barbarian armour but it’s on the old models?
Definitly a good addition to the game but this stuff you made is polishing the game in my opinion. It still needs more sand in the box before this nice polishing, stuff like taverns, books, gambling, musicianship, customizable clan banks (multiple separations for diferent ranks) etc etc
Seriously fill a whole page with content suggestions from players.
Looks nice, sounds nice. It’d be appreciated if you could show us a video where the sound isn’t exagerated.

First off, I like al the very much
but I’d like to ask some questions:
1. Is the music environment sound optional? I like it but when if I was out on PvP I might prefer to turn it off as its not a real world sound after all
2. Are the other sounds like bird chirping, frog croaking and such forced (i.e. cant be turned off)? I sure hope so
3. My only complaint is that when the dwarf waded through the swamp there was no wading sound!!#

Fantastic! I like the wind sounds. I hope you can make them dynamic, in that sometimes there’s wind at a certain spot, and sometimes it’s still. And other places, such as areas of coastal Niflheim, may have wind all the time.
The fly sounds buzzing your ear are very good too. That would be an appropriate sound for many locations.
Lastly, what’s happening to the existing music (Ambience sounds)? I really like them. I hope they remain as an option. Pleassee!

Will there be a new EU-server for the new “Darkfall release” ?
looks nice, but as usual there are many larger fish to fry.
Aside from Bunnyhopping, I’d say this one is pretty important. Most combat “fish” are being worked on in regards to a long-term solution as opposed to a “fix WoF and knockups” solution.
Amazing guys this is what was missing in DF no matter how beautifull the world is the lack of sound always made it seen dead. Can’t freaking wait for the update to come ! !
