- Each race has an additional Chaos Racial Channel which everyone can use including red players. To access this channel use ‘/say_chaos’ followed by your message.
- Players entering a city of a clan they have no political status with, will automatically go gray. These players will get an ingame message and have a grace period of 20 seconds to leave the area. This new Rogue system follows guard tower settings (Kill on sight: “All but allies”, “only enemies” and “no one” An example: if you set your Guard Tower to attack “no one”, no player entering your city will go gray.
- You no longer gain alignment points by killing or ganking red players or enemy races.
Chaos Churches
In order to gain alignment points you’ll have to visit one of the several Chaos Churches and pray at the Altar for forgiveness. Chaos churches have been added to the game in the following locations: Simiran, Janhalek, Espenhal, White View, and Tolenque. Here is some information about Chaos Churches:

- Your alignment increases by 2 points per session until you are at max +10
Ships
Fishing Boats
Fish boxes have been added to the game which enables players to upgrade their ships to fishing vessels. Here are some details on how this works:
- You can deploy fish boxes to ships by double-clicking the icon in your backpack while standing on one of the following ships: Junk, Pinnace, Sloop, Schooner, Brigantine, Reed Boat, Composite Raft, and Large Raft.
- Fishing will start when there’s a captain at the helm.
- The ship’s captain gets the messages on what kind of catch there is.
- Everything caught ends up in the fish box.
- The more perilous the waters you fish in, the better catch you’ll get.
- More expensive ships yield better catches.
- Fishing near land will yield no results.
- The fish box is accessible to all players so you want to protect it.
- Each ship can only have one fish box.
- If you’ve deployed a strong-box on the ship you cannot deploy a fish box and vice-versa.
- A fish box can be destroyed.
- Catches include
- Seaweed (for the new sushi recipes)
- Ship Modules
- Treasure maps
- Astrolabes
- Armor pieces
- more for you to discover
Shock Charges
Shock charger items can be crafted through the construction skill and placed on the following ships: Junk, Schooner, Brigantine, Reed Boat, Composite Raft, Large Raft, Barque, Ship of the line, Frigate, and Manowar. Here are some details on shock charges:

- Shock Charges are the ammunition for shock chargers and can be crafted using the alchemist skill.
- To use the Shock Charger:
- you have to be the captain of the ship
- have Shock Charge ammo in your backpack.
- Press the attack key (Left mouse button)
- The skill has a 4 seconds cool down
- The Shock Charge does not work on monsters or other ships (will only damage players)
- It will damage players around and below the ship.
- A player will be hit if he is in direct line of sight of the shock charge. (That means a player is protected from by staying inside the hull of his or another ship)
- Using the Shock Charger will follow same alignment rules as anything else.

The fishing box can be deployed on the following ships (note: ships can only have either a strong box or a fishing box added to them): Junk, Pinnace, Sloop, Schooner, Brigantine, Reed Boat, Composite Raft, Large Raft. Only 2 replies so far here, THAT MEANS EVERYONS LOGGED IN PLAYING!
100k to get in neutral alignment, haha. Guess I’ll stay red the rest of my df days then. That’s what you get for being active in pvp on the sub-continents I guess; your homelands and allied lands cut out from you forever >;)
yea the alignment cost is kind of overboard. They should have made everyone blue before this went in.
And if a newbie gets tricked into going red, which happens all the time due to blue griefers, then they are pretty much screwed.
im glad they didn’t give any free rides. You knew being red would have drawbacks
yes… because it takes one kill and gank to go red, then every other guy attacking you will further seal the deal since they will kamikaze the chaoschurches.
You might not have gone outside the race cities much, but on the sub-continents, blues attack you as well. I don’t roll over and play dead, letting my mates die because I won’t get a kill in or gank a blue enemy.
You might have an inability to kill others, but PvP in the wilds WILL get you red, and that’s a guarantee.
Reasonable patch but, I strongly think the alignment adjustments immediately need some work.
If blues attack you there should be a tag vs them if you kill that player you do not get another murder. Similar to Ultima Online.
The current set up pretty much completely ruins this for current reds trying to go blue. Are they just to let anyone who attacks them kill them? That’s just rediculess.
it should have drawbacks, not completely ruin the game for you
Excactly.
How the hell is not having access to the completely useless racial cities something that ruins the game for you? Please, do indulge me, as far as I can tell staying blue still holds no meaning whatsoever except that you can’t use race or trade chat.
So how long did you know the alignment patch was coming?? I mean really…. a friend of mine was -90 last night and got +10 before the patch and that was last moment … you had your chances…
Now I don’t know if I exactly like the alignment idea cause of the mixed race clans and how that ll work out with clan warfare … guess we ll see (and at least something is being worked and tried, the trying different things is the key IMO)
Good Job AV!! Finally moving again, lets get more out there so we can play!!!
Oh, a patch, nice!
lmao! the servers went down…
offline?

;p
Patch looks good. Another step in the right direction AV.
I agree with those saying everyone should have been reset to blue status at the deployment of the patch, it’s a new take on things, and from here on, people can chose if they want to become red or not, at a much more accurate way. Especially now that defending your own city, if the tower is set right, won’t give you negative alignment.
/waypoint = game crash fyi
Wow looks like I’ll never be blue again.
ALMost no veteran player in the game will remain blue and to spend such a lot of gold and effort to get back to blue is clearly not worth it anymore.
Npc towns will be emptier than ever as well as race alliance chats.
All this patch does is help zergs. This is going to reduce PVP across the game. There should be bonus’ for clans of the same race now. There should also be a race change option. The only good thing in this patch was the fishing boxes. And that only depends on how much stuff you get out of them.
HELP THE SOLO/SMALL GROUP PVPER AV QUIT NERFING THIS
Honestly I think this will make a much more playable game for most. The only ones crying are the player killers who kill blues and want to stay blue themselves. All the players who are -100 red already, shouldn’t care, they can still pvp where ever they want. If you don’t want to go red, pvp in opposing racial lands. I think it makes turning into a player killer a serious decision and no longer lets players grief people for a day and then go back blue tomorrow.
I worked so hard to make my Launch and wtf I get ? A JAKE WITH A SIDE OF SQUAT ! ! Why that fuck can people use stupid large rafts for the new fishing thing !?!? How did you guys in the meeting discussing the damn update agreed with “Lets fuck all lone players that worked their ass off in making their ship ! Yay !”
Wont even comment on everything else couse seriously this was so irritating that the rest of the patch I dont even give a damn
Solo players are screwed every single patch.AV hates them with a passion it seems.
why cant i login? queuing??? for 30 minutes now,,
this is an mmo it should support more then 1k of people login in.
I think this is step in the right direction for increasing the population. As far as the alignment thing goes- maybe add an additional thing so that alignment with your race faction will increase a small amount (only if you’re in the negative) over a long period of time, think of the way murder counts were on UO. +1
Nice one AV, I’m personally liking the stuff your doing. Stat meditation means I can go kill mobs to get gold to meditate. That is a hell of a lot more fun than swiming against a wall for 8 hours a day while reading a book!
Awsomeness!
I wish I had a fishing boat
Good job guys, can’t wait to test out the fishing boats.
Good!
Someone had an interesting scenario on forumfall.
The alignment system is pretty fail now, everyone remember when u were a new player and someone would grief you at the goblin camp and u accidentally end up killing a blue trying to defend yourself?
Thats -8 alignment, what if he ganks? thats -12 instant red.
-12 = 12,000 gold and 6 days that new character needs to farm to get +10.
Thats just not realistic off goblin spawns.
Wrong
Newbies start with +10 not 0.
so it’s -2 = 2000g to go back blue.
its very easy…think befor you attack someone
The idea is not to kill ppl at noob spawns… weird. Join clans and starter cities are near worthless. Not a huge loss.
Awesome patch in my eyes, heading in the right direction! Now for some blue bonuses and some sort of player city bonuses for them being close to each other.
Redo the cities layout to make sense would be cool too.

Tasos can u confirm please if there is a crafting/melee skill ? many ppl say there is no difference .. official post please
i love the patch i dont like the hole chaos church thing cause of the way it works with alinnment 1 kill of a blue ur red.. This is a pvp game if your going to work it with this system u should move the alignment 1 to 1 1 kill and gank is a point so u at least get 10 kills before going red. Even when u fight someone from anouther clan that is nutral and there blue u go red. So that is takeing away from the pvp part of the game.
sub continents if you kill someone you should lose no alignment as there are no racial empire out there just clans competing over land. then on the main land makes zones or something so if you kill a player near a npc city you go red but the farther away you go the less alignment you lose and make the center of the map a zone similar to the sub continents were you lose no alignment.

Is this an april fools, or is darkfall going places?
I’ve been 10 Blue 99%+ of my Darkfall Career/EU Launch.
If I understand this, If My Hamlet/town gets raided and I kill and gank the raider within 20 seconds (or just outside of system) cause I’m that elite, I’m Red for life cause I’m not paying 1K gold per alignment point with a max of 2 pts per day. That’s Insane. Someone please correct me if i’m wrong (and No, I’m not a leet pvper).
That’s correct. Simply awesome system indeed.
Oh, and don’t forget after killing that fisrt one, the next two you kill that day before having had time and luck to go blue again, means you are looking at 36k and 13 days instead, you see where I’m going >;)
Funny really.
“new sounds and new effects will be added to various weapons” In the last blog post.
So what new effects were added?
did you all really sit around in a circle and decide those alignment changes were a good idea?
Loved this patch…just one con its very cheap to turn blue again…turn this more expansive…
…oh! Poor PK (put your favorite meme face here)

Great patch. Like all the new changes added
regarding some negative comments regarding the alignment changes. PKs shouldn’t try to hide behind the excuse that it’s unfair on newbies.
2k is easily achievable, and most newbies who are familiar enough to know about gank will know about the alignment system. Ignorance is not an excuse.
It will not deteriorate PvP. Regular PKers are normally advanced players who don’t go near racial towns except to harass newbies anyway. What it will do (hopefully) is discourage, even if ever so slightly, ARAC clans.
That said, I do agree with whoever mentioned that it would be nice to be offered a race change due to the impact alignment has now. Seems like a reasonable request in my opinion
Good job AV
Housing?!
Excellent stuff, except for two things I would like to point out:
For a new player, during his two free weeks, it’s a bit harsh to block all new spells, skill extensions and extra default weapon slots. Grinding these during the trial period is not an exploit or risk it seems to me. I don’t see how this was a problem.
Alignment : as others have noticed, you can only pray once per day, so the system is a bit out of whack for players currently at -40 and lower. The alignment loss for any kind of kill is steep, so…
Merely posting feedback on crafting gains.
even though you (AV) have said that you fixed it on the friday (Day after patch), extensive testing has shown that crafting gains (on at the least) the following skills are completly unchanged as of today.
- Enchanting
Gains are no faster. crafting 157 enchants, at 94 skill, has a projected gain of ~0.6 – 0.8 – with an increase that should be (Somewhat) higher – this is not the case.
- Armoursmithing mastery
at 72 Mastery, the average gain is about ~1.0 per 16 crafts. after the patch i made 40 crafts (80 infernal fillers), which got me 2.7 in gains. (project gain:2.5)
—
after this expensive escapede (IE: TRusting you had fixed it) i’ve decided not to test on.
another played tested by making ~150 shipbuilding modules, which also saw no gain increase what so ever (at 50+ skill)
—-
Feedback: You didn’t increase it, whip the dude in charge of it and get it right. then refund the shit used by all the players trusting you to actually do what you say.

Hi I am currently a new player in Darkfall and these are just some of my opinions on the new update.
The recent changes to the skill system have introduced a number of new issues which are of concern;
Firstly how are the veteran players taking these new upgrades or any player prior to these new skill increases? Yes the update does make grinding as a new player much easier and reduces the time taken for a new player to be able to actually be useful in any sort of guild battle or pvp, but wouldn’t veteran players feel cheated? In the prior system players had to spent a lot of time macroing skills, and now the skill points are essentially thrown at your character.
Also in regards to attributes being able to be raised with meditation, I feel it allows for players to actually not play the game yet gain the same rewards as those that do. I understand that there are a number of players who lack the time to play games and feel like they are dropping in a sea of improving players. I feel that if meditation was limited to only skills, rather then attributes it would at least encourage more people to actually log-in and play.
Meditation has also brought upon a list of other changes in general, such as since players are no longer required to macro away from keyboard, wouldn’t this mean less players are actually logged into the world? Essentially as an MMORPG there should be as many players as humanly possible logged in to give the feeling of a populated world. As is Darkfall is lightly populated so the extra players logged in made the world feel better. On the other hand though having fewer clients logged into the server does free up bandwidth so that the players who are actually logged in will be hopefully playing lag free.
In the previous versions of Darkfall there were no limitations on trial accounts, with the March 31st update there have been a slew of new limitations which I feel impact the game. A trial of a game should demonstrate every aspect of the game. Some of the limitations I believe would never be achieved in a trial, but some of them I feel are an important aspect of the game and therefore should definitely be trialled such as the ability to own a house or the ability to create a party or even the ability to purchase various types of magic.
A lot of the changes made in terms of alignment changes are fairly spot on; casting debuffs on fellow players should render you rogue or criminal to them, it seems logically correct. I don’t particularly agree with the removal of a reds ability to view various chats, they are still part of society therefore they should still be able to view the chat. If anything this adds the opportunity for players to stage ambushes or in general just gathers information.
Chaos churches are abit of a hit and a miss I believe, as mentioned previously by Bind Chaostone and Jonny Smith there is no real incentive to use these churches. If a player wants to kill players, they won’t want to go back to being a blue, especially at such a steep time cost of 2 points per 24 hours.
Thanks for reading.
