Quick Update September 23

We spent this past week monitoring the servers for issues related to the new siege system added to the game and making sure everything was functioning as intended. Your feedback, as always, was very useful in identifying problems which we fixed during hot fixes this week and the week before. We are continuing to address issues as they come up and we’ll continue monitoring the new system’s performance, as well as your feedback through the direct use of the new siege system.

We identify with a request on the community forums asking for smaller, more frequent patches from now on. While we used to do frequent large patches in the past, we have recently focused on major development of Darkfall’s relaunch and the implementation of the new siege system. Having finished with the latter, we do intend to return to smaller and more frequent patches to the game. The thread I mentioned earlier is by user Ka0ru and in it he’s compiled a specific list of fixes, and I quote:

“1 – The dungeon portals, (Fixed on the siege patch, but could have come before it)
2 – The tower scream, (Was promised to the siege patch, but didn’t come)
3 – House taxes, make that only owner and guests are allowed to pay it.
4 -House safe, make that if the owner authorize guests or specific guest can access it.
5 – House slots, make guest rooms for house and villa that allows +1 for house and +2 for villa.
6 – Increase the village reward + items/resources if you feels like
7 – Increase the trade route reward
8 – Sea fortress timers
9 – Emotes cutting sounds and animations.
10 – Submarine bluetails, bluetails running on the bottom of the ocean
11 – Hear to other ppl swinging their weapon.
12 – Bag bug when porting – (I don’t think this one is as simple as the others).
13 – Spell lock bug when switching staves and keying a spell too fast
14 – Players being able to release spells under the water.”

We intend to address most of these issues in upcoming patches in the next few weeks. Some are relatively straightforward, others  are not so simple but we’re always looking into all the issues reported by our players. There are more fixes to other issues that we’re also investigating but we prefer looking into your priority issues, so keep providing us with feedback on those.

Development on Darkfall’s relaunch is moving at a steady pace. Recently, momentum mechanics have been reworked and there have also been some changes to the camera. We’ll show these changes in a media sneak peak as soon as they’re finished.
Due to transportation strikes in Greece this week, making it difficult for some of our developers to get to work,  our sprint presentation meeting has been postponed for next week and with it, so has our activity report.

Thank you for reading

      Would like to point out:

14 – Players being able to release spells under the water.
      Is not a bug-but a feature,

1 – The dungeon portals, (Fixed on the siege patch, but could have come before it)
About time, weasels will be fighting from now no–death to carebears!

  1. I’ve never seen someone who could type so much yet say so little.

BUY A DAM CAR!!!!! carpool.. walk.. ride a freaking bike.. steal a moped whatever it takes.

  3. Excuse #4315. I hope everyone doesn’t catch the flu again this year…

  4. It’s good to see you are listening to community feedback. Please make effort to resolve these issues with small patches! Also, see my Armor-Stacking suggestion in the same thread you mentioned by Ka0ru. I believe it should be added to the list.

  5. Mario Werner says:

    Still not worth resubbing.

  6. Come on.. The longer they wait the more obvious they are going to wipe.

  7. Brian Ward says:

I’m surprised there aren’t more people happy about there (finally) being smaller fixes on the way, considering that’s been a whining point for so long.

  8. Ryan Dunn says:

Please, please increase village rewards. We need more small scale pvp hotspots!

  9. “While we used to do frequent large patches in the past…”
What the FU… oh, yes, ok, once a year is frequent. Ok, Tasos you have a point.

  10. I wonder why they still allow comments on their updates. Good work, and don’t sell the company. The last thing we need is another Aion, WoW, or Warhammer…

  11. Jonny Smith says:

Basically more evidence that they dont play their own game and he has to rely on a forum post by a no-name to tell them what to do to fix the game despite the bugs having been there for years in most cases.

DF 2 is clearly a pipedream quite frankly.

  12. god most of the DFO community is a bunch of crying bitchs…. do you guys get off to crying like a 5 year old? i swear grow the fuck up id rather the game stay the same then become a WoW clone!

  13. Eric Gayman says:

I don’t want to beat a dead horse, but some more information about the Df2 transition would be good.

What I would love to see is an open source version of Darkfall (offline) for a modding community to build up. After DF2 is released.

I all ways say profit from what you did, not how well you did it.

  14. Matt Goebel says:

You promised us information on Darkfall 2.0 release BACK IN AUGUST.
When the hell do you actually follow through with anything. The community is ill with how you let us all down and keep us all in the dark. At this point i’m honestly wondering if there really even is a Darkfall 2.0

  15. Shane Stout says:

wow, i’ve been waiting on baited breath for the fix on submarine bluetails…

WE dont need armor updates, weapon updates, magic updates, or anything else, but those damned 4 or 5 people per hour that are riding a mount underwater are ambushing the kraken from behind and im tired of it, it seems like every day i get killed by an afk underwater driver…. im GLAD they’re making that change instead of something important….

sorry.. it just seems like near half of the ‘bugs’ list, arent bugs that need to be worked on BEFORE anything else… looks like an attempt on saying… hey we painted your car, it still needs a bumper, wheels, and an engine, but its got a fresh coat of paint. sleight of hand anyone? how many rubes are actually falling for the appeasement?

give us a date, and release 2.0. fix the bugs on 2.0 THEN worry about hearing people swing a weapon and blue tails under the sea AFTER the major bugs are gone.

how about the ‘guy on foot catching a bluetail or ship without using spells bug ‘ !!
    -
oh.. sorry.. those are just exploits and hacks right? those can wait to be fixed until the current players unsub.

    • These are some of the most bitched about things for darkfall since its come out. The only reasons these wouldn’t be relevant anymore would be that 2.0 is within a couple months. If they plan to fix these in smaller patches (lolmaybe) then 1.0 will be much improved until the latter.

  16. you really are a bunch of retards who invent a new excuse each week :) amazing , i think you perfectly know you are killing your game

    have fun

  17. Jon Shaker says:

AV is stupid and so is brannoc

  18. I have tried to give this game the effort it deserves but AV are such a terrible company, they ignore their own deadlines and give little to no useful or even relevant information. Darkfall 2010 is now Darkfall 2.0, we were told August was the time it would all be explained, its nearly October. I have given this game most waking/non-working/non-socialising hours I have for a hell of a long time and I am done with Darkfall, AV has had to many chances and messed up every time. The general player has zero confidence in AV’s ability to even meet a news deadline never mind deliver a high polished product worthy of peoples time and hard earned money. If im wrong and DF2.0 is amazing then fair enough but seriously can you see that happening?

  19. Tim Little says:

i hope the spotlight next week is really good. the changing of the camera angle thing worries me.

  20. So much hate again, and imo uncalled for. if they give an update about things we’ve bitched about for months saying they’re gonna fix it finally, then why bitch them out more? Siege system was a success, and still nothing positive to say? We all know AV is late with everything. The only thing i could be mad about from them atm is that they’re still dodging WIPE fallout questions.

  21. Saul Manzano says:

    av only fails this year

  22. hello? minotaur king exploit??? It’s only been forever and takes 5 minutes to move the wall ffs.

    wipe or not?

News of smaller more frequent patches is great though, I only hope it will be focused on bugfixing primarily, and brushing up on things secondly.

  23. Due to transportation strikes in Greece this week, making it difficult for some of our developers to get to work, our sprint presentation meeting has been postponed

Just gotta love that one hahahahaha really dont know if they are just soo full off there own bullshit they actually think it will stick to others

  24. Bobby Klosak says:

I just want the game to be awesome…and come out before I die or am too old to play.

  25. Keep it simple if adding new furniture types would be too hard – just make all house types have +1 or +2 friend spots for now. Currently most houses work for owner +1, when many (many) small groups are actually trios or quartets.

You want someone to play with their partner, then to get thier brother and cousin playing Darkfall too – stop having game mechanics that divide up such groups, because they are the key to longevity of playre community in MMOs. Social interaction makes or breaks games, houses are perfect for that, do yourself a favour and a slot or two more to every house.

And I love that you guys are ‘getting it’ that more fixes, more often, are more achievable than mega patches that inevitably go awry in such a deliciously complex game. :)
