Update April 15th

We’re in crunch mode here to reach the sprint goals so there is very little to report on the development front that we haven’t reported on already. Two interesting bits of news I think you may want to hear however:

The alignment feature we put forth for public debate and discussion has been developed and is currently undergoing testing. I’m talking about the lawful and lawless areas around the world. You take alignment hits in the lawful areas but not in the lawless ones. We’re trying to get this out in our next patch.

The siege system debate on self-sieging has not escaped our attention. Besides the community liaisons addressing concerns on this topic, you should know that we’re hard at work on development that will make it irrelevant.  There has been a complete rewrite of the siege system to address sieging mechanics and other issues. This was concluded today and it will move to testing. We’ll have more details on this soon.

We should have more information to post a proper activity report next Wednesday. We appreciate your patience until then.

Thanks for reading.

Come on Tasos. What about Prestige Classes? Don’t just ignore the issue please. Answer the overwhelming amount of your customers who are asking for updated information.

Any update on when a patch will come?

  2. Lee Joyner says:

They’re wholly optional, which is what makes it a wonderful system. I remember him saying over 50 prestige classes, and going into detail regarding the Paladin, where you could have one complete heal a day, but you had to donate half your income to the church. Being an Inde Magekiller myself, I’m looking for an Assassin type, or perhaps Berzerker. It’s not about the classes, or limiting, as much as it adds to the RP flavor of the game, and setting yourself apart from the other cookie cutter builds.

Just be glad that we’re actually getting weekly updates. Just a few months ago, we never had any updates. From June to about September, we didn’t even get 1 forum update from the team. It was like they vanished lol.

I still think they need to hire about 10 more people. Just take all their revenue and invest it in devs so they can push stuff out quick and get a faster population growth. Money can come later!

Prestige classes are the largest feature ever added to Darkfall and will definitely change the face of the game. The final design for them is complete. From here we go to the technical design, implementation, testing, evaluation, more testing etc. Sounds like this will take forever but it won’t. The functionality is all there. We cannot announce how many prestige classes there will be when they’re released because everything is subject to change from names, to skills, spells, requirements, and some may not even make it out of testing. There will be, however, a good variation of them offered at release and we’ll keep adding new ones. Prestige classes will be getting a full presentation of their own before long. Until then, a lot of people at Aventurine, even some of the developers don’t know more than you do right now.

What I really want news about is the GUI.. Need eyecandy.

  6. Jonny Smith says:

Great in 10 years self sieging will not be allowed.

And in another 10 years when you get back from -100 it will be harder to go -100 again.

    What a joke.

  7. Jonny Smith says:

Its then same old story with AV.
Sorry we fucked up with the last patch and we are worried that all players will soon be red.

But never fear Tasos is here and we are working our butts off Greek time to fix it.

    lol.

  8. Tasos’s reply leads to DFonline page instead of his Facebook!

    HAX!

  9. Lee Joyner says:

I wonder why Tasos doesn’t even post or link this information at the official forums? What does that portend?

  11. Martin Erber says:

its because, everybody can flame a post when he/she is behind a normal nick, if ppl have to post like here with there “real” names..the quality of critism is more higher and constructive.

Forumfall is Flamefall, at the moment. And soon, we will see that AV have done a very good job.

  12. Lee Joyner says:

That’s an unfortunate choice, then, as the forum readers have been following and supporting this game for many, many years, and you get much better discussion of ideas there than here. This is a sterile environment that does not foster debate at all.

  13. But Tasos didn’t say WHICH Wednesday… pwnt.

  14. Lee Joyner says:

True, so true. I was hoping it would be the Wednesday before the incredibly long Easter holiday :(
