Update & Dungeon Q&A questions
Our Sprint presentation will be held next week, and we expect to present our progress to you then. In the meanwhile we’ll give you a small update on some of the questions you’ve asked on the forums and a small presentation on the work we’re doing with dungeons.
There were a few questions about our trip to Asia. To address some of these, I’ll say that we went there after we were invited to meet with several of the Asian majors. There is great interest in Darkfall for Asia. To suit the Asian markets, Darkfall would need to be localized and there would need to be some co-development along with our Asian partners. This will be good for the game overall since we’d be tapping into some vast development resources. Unfortunately I can’t be more specific but there will be announcements when we can.
There were also some concerns about the financial crisis in Greece and how this might affect Aventurine. It doesn’t directly. Darkfall is an international product and we do not depend on the Greek market. We are experiencing delays with various requests and processes but nothing critical yet. If the situation in Greece were to start affecting the company, there are many alternative options available to us.

They didn’t get lost, there is a lot of work needed to be done and done properly. This, of course, included many more aspects than simply the world-building part of development. The new Central Dungeons, for example, will consist of 4 different main areas. Depending on which way you choose to go through you will end up in one of four areas and face one of the four main bosses. In addition to the unique boss fight, each area has their own theme, lore, quests, design and concepts. The way to the main areas will also offer several challenges as players have to beat and evade several different types of traps and obstacles.
The new chests in these advanced dungeons will very much be worth the time and effort, we’ve made sure of that.
One of the rooms will have the Demon Queen as main boss. Players will fight on a big spider web like structure. Adventurers will also have to find the way to actually get to the area and find a way to enter the web itself. For the ones of you who are familiar with the Movie “Krull” you might get some fond memories while exploring this specific area of the Central Dungeon.

The new dungeon is not Kasdim (yet). There are plans in the making that will finally unearth the Chal d’Ean‘s own important storyline and dungeon. They will tie together many elements, including the last bastion of Kasdim, the presence of the fire dragon in that area, and much more!
We can, however, show you some screenshots of the Cairn Dungeon that is hosting an intricate Labyrinth, you will have to fight and find your way through to get through to the main boss of the area.

You dont expand when your first 2 markets didnt do well… BTW Asia already has a game to look forward to that is similar to darkfall and will attract that market 10 fold. Its called ArcheAge… Im currently playing DF right now (not a trial account) after I followed DF since 2006 and got into beta, played 6 months in and quit. It has its flaws and im being loyal and waiting for 2.0. But if 2.0 fails im going to ArcheAge. I can sacrifice twitch combat for a more UO sandbox experience where players literally can build freely. Tasos, take a look at the next-gen MMOs coming out and think about making those types of changes thatll pull the DF crowd away.

Coming along nicely those dungeons. Love the paintings and artifacts. Will be fun to explore.
Asian business: Localized? I can only take that to mean client support for Mandarin, Korean and hopefully English too.
Better keep those gooks off the main servers. Quit working on dungeons and PUBLISH some PvP content.
Oh God I just want the sound patched in, at least give us a 30 second video with some new music Tasos!!

You keep working on dungeons but i feel the curent dungeon system is wrong.People feel the loadlag and just leave the dungeon portals,or they crash their clients while loading.
People on forums complained about that and the fix was that u appear at the entrance of the dungeon instead of your bindstone.The problem WAS NOT that.
You need to either add a casting bar to exit the dungeon for like 10 seconds or completly remake the dungeons making them part of the world where the entrance of them is also the exit.
Else i have a feeling that every dungeon change will still be kinda useless.
I would like to know, why do we even need an dungeon EXIT ??
Entrance and exit should be the same for most dungeons. If they would add a few alternative paths so people have the chance to escape a fight the problem would be fixed.
this would be to the benefit of the 30% actual red populace that preys on pve’rs? the load lag is not the problem in my opinion. the simplest solution would be to seek pvp on open and even ground where the other player isnt already half dead from mobs.
the issue that AV fixed was an exploit where you could be loading ‘out’ of a dungeon, kill your game, and come back at your bind point. making it impossible for the person you’re fleeing from (you apparently) to catch them. that fix was implemented and you can no longer ‘bind load’ out of a dungeon. AV did a great job in fixing this issue.

Now you describe the dungeons as something that will be a challenge not just as far as the monsters inside but also as like a maze.
Will the dungeons change at all? For instance have doors that might close at certain times and have other routes open up to keep the maze/unknown factor of the dungeons changing? Or will everything be static?
Because if everything is static then I cannot see it being any different from any other dungeon once you have gone through it a couple times.
Dynamic mechanics (some being outside of a player’s control) would be a fantastic addition for sure.
Good work, but most of us only care about PvP content and balance
-Villages ever going to be fixed? add 15 rare ore or random loot.
-Hopefully archery and melee have more abilities in the expansion besides swing and shoot bow right…. Magic has hundreds of spells archery has shoot bow and disable shot! LOL
Would be nice to add different types of arrows, poison, fire, and different types of bows, longbows, crossbows, fuck it give us a grappling hook.
-I remember hearing something about Gems being useful in the expansion to socket armor and put stated gems in them?
-Land fortresses? Like sea towers but on land
-Make owning a house worth it more usfull stuff in your house more slots for players to bind etc. (would also be cool to put any item you own in your house)
-Fix the current Broken economy add some type of auction house or something like in SWG
+Sandbox) Poker tables for houses that link to all other poker tables for cool Darkfall poker tourneys for Darkfall gold.
+Some type of dueling system where it shows who you challenged to a duel and if you won or lost with leader boards. (like a duel arena)
-Possibly use the Duel arena for wager matches where both groups agree on what you want to duel for Gold or items in some kind on window when both teams accept the gold automatically goes to the winning team or player.(basically players or clans can’t bitch out and not pay you when you win.)
+ Where is the Dye you guys talked about so long ago? I want a Black Full dragon set! (You should be able to craft and make Dye)
+Clan features: Custom clan ranks, Custom bank access Custom clan insignia and flag
+Alliance Features: Make joining a alliance be just like joining a clan show it over your name,all the sgs in the alliance would have access to the Alliance bank. Clans can vote on Kicking clans out of the alliance and accepting ones in. Custom alliance insignia and flag.

So my question is: Are these new dungeons dynamic ??? Or do skip 95% of the dungeons/ labyrinth after the first player posted a path through ?
Would be boring to go left / left / left / right / left / right / right / finish instead of looking for our own way through the dungeon.

Lol AV your lore is very broken. I could give a shit less whether or not you want us to “fight through past the black knights” you honestly think that’ll happen? You’re just giving us an easy way to farm sparkstone and neithal keys. I mean maybe you have plans to make it so you have to kill them all, which I really hope you can pull that off, I know how you guys are with your updates though.
Definitely awesome stuff. Like others have said though, it would be nice to see some dynamic content like moving walls, rooms that have puzzles to solve, etc. If the loot at the end is really worth it, and if the puzzles can remain dynamic so that it isn’t “check site for riddle/puzzle answers,” it would be fun and engaging (solve this puzzle while fighting off waves of enemies!)
I’d even go so far as to add libraries with puzzle or riddle hints related to lore, treasure map loot with the first steps to a new mini-event, or hidden information in ruins that people can piece together about certain dungeons.
Keep it dynamic, and keep it coming. Can’t wait for it to come out!

but the main problem for me with darkfall is lack of advertising and unfinished current content aka village conquering, housing, tradin, citys layout etc. etc.
u can make tons of new dungeons etc. but the game will still be booring without healthy population
one of the reasons why i dont keep active sub anymore = game is not fun with same 200 persons from whom all logout if they dont pve/pvp to get maximum meditation not just chill around game like it was year ago before meditation

I let my sub run out, and have no intentions of returning until these phantom mega updates even show up. The updates are interesting game is not right now.

It’s all awesome and this and that but all I can care now is about what spells and skills will be removed !!!
Its always looking good what AV let see us, but after 1 1/2 year “conquer the seas” there wasnt implement realy good content ..ok icedragon (in hellfreeze) but that was all, the mid of agon was nerfed ..no firedragon , no baradron ..same with the mobs in the middledungeons.
for subscribers its important that there are some perma patches like 2 medium patches in a month and every week a hotfix for the bugs
AV set all chances to ONE Big Expansion that cant work, because when you change so much there would be !! alot more bugs (and the hardcore gamers would search for this)
its important for darkfall sure that there is a new version arround (DF 2.0 or DF Arena (DF2010)) but dont miss to work on the current version.

I think the new dungeons look great and we need to give AV a chance. They’re doing a lot of good work with a small staff. I do feel though that they’d be better served by correcting issues with current content rather than adding ‘new things’.
Joke game, haven’t had a serious patch for over 5 months now. I’ve given up on this company just like 99% of it’s player base. Sell the game or move to the U.S. It will actually get developed.
ffs stop treating AV like a mentally challenged 4 year old! “Good job! You didn’t actually do anything but we still love you!” They need to focus on ONE THING AT A TIME. This is especially important if you have a small team. I’ve been following for years now and am still waiting for things that were promised ages ago.
Since I unsubbed a few months back I’ve been playing Mortal Online. Same story, small European developer, but the focus on one thing at a time and work around the clock to make improvements. For the longest time they had a lot of problems with the game’s core which made things slow, but now they’re actually starting to move again and make progress, unlike Darkfall that has failed to deliver half of what they promised years ago.
