Races
of Darkfall
Life has taken countless
forms on Agon. While most creatures are considered mere
animals or monsters, many display both a degree of intelligence
and an urge to control their environment.
Among
these civilization-seeking species, six have risen to
prominence. Dwarves, humans, alfar, mirdain, mahirim and
orks have built nations that dominate large parts of Agon,
while their cities, armies and cultural achievements are
envied by all other sentient creatures.
Humans of Mercia
Humans are the most numerous of the dominant species.
They are a warlike race, whose goddess bids them go forth
and conquer in her name. Humans are considered dangerously
arrogant by some, and they sometimes have trouble seeing
the validity of other races’ claims on territory
and resources. Despite this, they tend to be kind at heart,
and to stand firm against the forces of evil.

Orks of Morak
The orks are a race of big and strong warriors, whose
society is based on the exploitation of slaves. In the
swamps of Morak, countless goblins perform menial tasks,
while svartdvergir serve as smiths and engineers. Orks
worship Azhi Dahaka, the Fire Dragon, a scheming and evil
god who demands a steady stream of sentient sacrifice.

Mirdain of Mirendil
The mirdain are a race of sylvan elves, who thrive in
the ancient and enormous Mirendil forest. Unlike some
of the other elves on Agon, like the Ciel Fey and Alfar,
the Mirdain are oriented towards good and kindness, but
they have little patience with those who damage their
forest-home.

Dwarves of Dvergheim
The dwarves live in a rigidly structured society, which
is oriented towards the underground rather than the surface;
towards technology rather than magic. Their machines extract
resources from the earth, while dwarven engineers and
adventurers seek out Agon’s deepest secrets in dark
places. Unbeknownst to the other races, the dwarves follow
a cultural path set out in the ancient writings of their
creator-god, Ymir.

Mahirim of The Tribelands
The mahirim are a race of fierce predators, who dwell
and hunt in the Tribelands of western Agon. They are tall
and swift, and a combination of physical strength and
predatory instincts means that they are respected and
feared as warriors. Traditionally, the mahirim are the
most primitive of the dominant species, but this is changing
due to the meddling of a group called the Ancients, who
recently arrived among them.

Dominant gods: The three aspects of the moon: Lankhat,
Lanthar and the Moon-Beast.

Alfar of Nagast
The alfar are a subterranean race, who dwell in the tunnels
and chambers under Agon’s southern wastelands. They
are followers of the evil god Melek, who led them underground
millennia ago, and who is both powerful and dangerously
insane. In open defiance of the Celestial Concord, Melek
lives among his people as both god and king.
